Our Yearly Recap

In the ever-evolving landscape of digitization, where each click of the camera shutter captures not just an image but a piece of history, Digital Transitions stands at the forefront. As a trailblazer in digitization technology, equipment, and services, the company continues to redefine the boundaries of what’s possible in preserving our past for the future.

New Equipment Illuminates Possibilities

In the spirit of innovation, we recently unveiled groundbreaking equipment that is poised to redefine the digitization landscape. At the heart of this release is a cutting-edge lighting system, the DT Stellar platform,  designed to revolutionize the way we capture and digitize cultural artifacts, manuscripts, and historical documents. This advanced lighting system not only enhances the clarity and detail of the digitization process but also sets new standards for color accuracy and preservation in the digital age.

In the realm of digitization excellence, the DT FADGI Flow software takes center stage in our equipment lineup. Offering unparalleled control, it not only governs the DT Stellar lighting system directly from the capture station but extends its capabilities to color profiling, color profile validation, and comprehensive control over the camera and RAW settings. This robust software empowers users with the flexibility to adjust the power of each light individually in increments as precise as 1/100th of a stop, while also facilitating the creation and adjustment of groups of lights. For those preferring a more tactile approach, most DT Stellar settings can be effortlessly controlled using the intuitive LED Indicator Ring on each Stellar unit. This year, our commitment to cutting-edge technology is epitomized by the ingenuity of DT FADGI Flow, reinforcing our dedication to providing the most advanced digitization solutions.

Cultural Heritage Community: Our Global Engagement in 2023

Another year is behind us, and we look back with pride at the achievements made by our CH community peers and partners. Throughout the year, DT also made an effort to contribute to the innovation and community engagement that pushes cultural heritage preservation and digitization forward. Here are a few highlights from our year!

One of the standout events in 2023 was the Digital Transitions Roundtable — an immersive experience that brought together industry leaders, and digitization experts that transcended geographical boundaries. This virtual and in person gathering brought together speakers and guests from all corners of the globe, creating a dynamic platform for sharing insights, experiences, and expertise in the field of digitization. Attendees from 23 countries had the opportunity to engage with hands-on demonstrations of the latest equipment, participate in informative sessions, and connect with like-minded professionals. This event strived to showcase our commitment to education and community.

Preserving Ukraine’s History in the Face of Conflict

In the face of the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine, we embarked on a mission to help preserve the nation’s history during these challenging times. Teaming up with local cultural authorities and institutions, we initiated a project that aimed to protect Ukraine’s invaluable historical record from the devastating impacts of war.

We donated a DT Atom digitization system on short-term loan to the National Reserve – Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, marking the first phase of a pro bono commitment to safeguard Ukraine’s cultural record. This involved providing not just equipment but also sharing expertise and conducting training sessions to empower local staff in the digitization process.

In a statement, Peter Siegel, DT Owner & Founder, emphasized the significance of this project, saying, “In the midst of turmoil, it is crucial to preserve the cultural heritage that defines a nation. Our project in Ukraine is a testament to the resilience of history and our commitment to ensuring that it is not lost, even in the face of adversity.”

The goal of this initiative is to digitally preserve irreplaceable icons, engravings, papers, bound materials, and flat art pieces—artifacts that hold the essence of Ukraine’s cultural identity. By helping to establish a more permanent digital archive, we aim to secure these treasures for future generations, even amid the challenges posed by an active war.

Looking Ahead: A Digital Tomorrow

In the coming year, we will continue our commitment to the CH community by pushing the boundaries of digitization technology, equipment, and services. The unveiling of groundbreaking equipment, the multiple educational and community events, the orchestration of our global Digitization Roundtable, and the project in Ukraine are testaments to our dedication to preserving the past while embracing the future.

In the words of Doug Peterson, “Digitization is not just about technology; it’s about the stories we tell, the cultures we preserve, and the legacies we leave behind. At Digital Transitions, we are not just digitizing artifacts; we are safeguarding the threads of our collective tapestry for generations to come.” As we step into the next chapter of digitization, one thing remains clear—we strive to not just be a company; but also, a curator of history, a protector of cultural narratives, and a catalyst for a digital renaissance.
