Full System Requirements

Prior to installation or upgrade, the capture station(s) should be checked to verify they meet or exceed the current System Requirements. This will help you avoid any compatibility issues that may cause issues with capture.

The Recommended System Requirements for Capture One 11 and Capture One 12:

Apple® Macintosh® Recommended Requirements

  • Intel® Core™ i7 or better
  • 16 GB of RAM or more
  • 100 GB of free hard disk space
  • Solid state drive preferred
  • A fast graphics card from NVIDIA or AMD

Microsoft® Windows® Recommended Requirements

  • Intel CPU with four cores or better
  • 16 GB of RAM or more
  • 100 GB of free hard disk space
  • Solid state drive strongly preferred
  • Microsoft .Net Framework 4.7
  • GPU with at least 4GB of ram

Additional Notes on System Requirements:
Operating System – For most versions, Capture One provides support for the two most recent operating systems. You should never upgrade the operating system on the first release. This can cause major issues, especially when a fully compatible Capture One version is not available. Contact Digital Transitions Support whenever you have questions on supported software and operating systems.

Hard Disk – The available hard disk space is important to maintain over time. This allows both the operating system and Capture One to work properly. We recommend shooting to a local drive. Shooting to external drives or servers can slow down transfer and rendering rates in Capture One. In addition, Solid State Drives provide the best system performance.

Recommended Hub for Tethered Capture

As Apple has removed Firewire ports and changed the power output on both Firewire and USB ports it has become necessary to add a hub to the computer setup for tethered capture. The need for a hub is not just about adding ports, but also provides sufficient and consistent power for Phase One digital backs. This is a very important as built-in ports often don’t provide enough power to the digital back. A hub will help supplement the power and solve this issue.  To help supplement the power you should always have a battery in the back then connect via a Dock.

Depending on your computer and digital back the OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock or OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock may be appropriate.

Recommended Tethering Cable

Digital Transitions recommends that you use only the Phase One Cables shipped with your digital back. These cables have a higher quality control standard and are less likely to have transfer and/or connection errors. If you need additional cables, or need a longer cable than ships with the camera we have a variety of recommended cables and repeaters/extenders here: Phase One Accessories Cables.
