A New Chapter in Cultural Heritage Imaging
The Phase One iXH 250MP represents a generational leap in what’s possible for cultural heritage digitization — 247 megapixels of instant capture, paired with the Phase One RS 72mm MkII lens, in a system built from the ground up for preservation-grade production.
Seamlessly integrated with the DT AutoColumn and compatible with digitization workstations including the DT Atom, DT Element, DT Versa, and DT Titan — as well as third-party stations, copy stands, and tripods — the iXH 250MP adapts to your environment without asking you to adapt to it. Whatever your collection contains, conservation-friendly handling and FADGI 4-star image quality are always within reach.
The Phase One RS 72mm MkII Lens
The Phase One RS 72mm MkII is purpose-built for cultural heritage imaging, and represents a new benchmark in optical performance. It exceeds the strictest requirements of FADGI and ISO digitization standards at every magnification, delivering unmatched sharpness, color accuracy, tonality, and noise performance across the full subject size range.
Its firmware-controlled floating element maintains sharp corner-to-corner detail for subjects from 6″ to 60″ in size, without lens changes or extension tubes. Enter your target subject size or PPI in Capture One CH and camera position and focus are handled automatically. Preservation-grade imaging across a diverse collection has never been this straightforward.
Compatibility Note: The RS 72mm MkII is compatible with the iXH 250MP and the full iXH camera family. Extension tubes are neither required nor supported across its entire subject size range.
Maximum Productivity
At DT, every system we offer is held to the same standard: nothing in the workflow should slow you down, and nothing should put your materials at risk. The iXH 250MP delivers on both. As an instant capture system with a shutter speed range down to 1/2000th of a second, combined with 10G Ethernet via SFP+ module and USB-C connectivity, images move from camera to workstation in near real time. The leap to 247 megapixels translates directly to operational efficiency — a larger capture area at any given PPI means fewer camera repositions, fewer setting changes, and more collection covered per session. The AutoCrop feature in Capture One CH takes care of post-processing automatically, handling subjects of varying sizes and shapes without hand cropping or manual rotation. More throughput, higher image quality, and the same careful approach to your collection that every DT system is built around.
Resolution Without Compromise
The iXH 250MP far exceeds FADGI 4-star quality specifications across all material types: manuscript materials, works on paper, natural history specimens, three-dimensional art, bound volumes, film, glass plates, and oversized materials like maps and paintings.
A single system now captures A0-scale documents at 400ppi — where previous systems topped out at 300ppi — while remaining capable of extreme close-up work on stamps, film, and other small subjects. At its core is the Sony iMX811 247-megapixel CMOS sensor, delivering 19,236 x 12,836 pixel resolution with 14.5 stops of dynamic range from a 54 x 36mm full-frame sensor.
Paired with the Phase One RS 72mm MkII lens — designed specifically for cultural heritage imaging at this resolution — the iXH 250MP delivers edge-to-edge sharpness across a wide range of magnifications. The lens’s firmware-controlled floating element maintains extraordinary image quality whether you’re capturing an oversized painting or a postage stamp, with no compromise in color accuracy, tonality, or noise.
Intuitive by Design
The iXH 250MP is engineered for fast onboarding and faster production. Deeply integrated with our AutoColumn technology and Capture One CH — including the ultra-minimalist Slipstream interface — the system is intuitive from the start. Set your target PPI or subject size and the software handles camera position and focus automatically. Live view is smooth and responsive, and you can capture directly from it without any additional steps. Color accuracy is built in: pre-configured profiles cover both flash and DT Photon illumination, so there’s no custom profiling required. The camera itself has no LCD or menu — every setting lives in Capture One CH, powered by AC, fully software-controlled. And the resolution gains are immediately practical: where previous systems captured A0 documents at 300ppi, the iXH 250MP captures the same material at 400ppi — more detail, same workflow. The result is a system that a seasoned digitization specialist and a first-time volunteer can both operate confidently, and that makes FADGI 4-star quality more accessible than ever.
Built for Who’s Behind the Lens
The iXH 250MP wasn’t designed for a spec sheet — it was designed for the person running a full day of digitization. Trigger it however works best for your workflow: foot pedal, hand release, software capture, or host command from Capture One CH. Control it from any networked workstation without being tethered to a single machine. The rotatable dovetail L-bracket — compatible with Arca-Swiss mounts, the DT AutoColumn Advanced Leveling Head, and a wide range of copy stands — lets you reorient the camera quickly and safely between bound and flat material without removing or recalibrating. And with native integration with the DT Photon and Stellar Lighting systems, the iXH 250MP delivers a pre-trigger signal that dims lights between captures automatically — no extra cabling required. Every detail is there to keep the operator focused on the work, not the equipment.
