For more than a decade, the Digital Transitions Cultural Heritage Roundtable has brought together librarians, archivists, curators, conservators, photographers, and technologists from around the world for a day of shared knowledge on digitization standards, workflows, and technology. What began as a small, client-focused gathering has grown into our flagship annual event — drawing hundreds of cultural heritage professionals from dozens of countries..

2025 Cultural Heritage Roundtable

November 6, 2025 • Virtual • Free

Our first fully virtual Roundtable brought cultural heritage professionals together from around the globe for a day covering digital provenance, FADGI-compliant imaging at scale, AI tips and pitfalls, and the preservation of sports history.

2024 Cultural Heritage Roundtable

October 23, 2024 • New York City + European Virtual Session • In-Person & Virtual

Our largest Roundtable yet, with over 600 participants from 44 countries — including 100+ attendees in person at 787 Seventh in Manhattan and 150 joining a dedicated European virtual session. The day explored the “Past, Present, and Future of Digitization,” with a three-part thematic session on authenticity in heritage digitization, plus exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of the MoMA Digitization Studios and The Morgan Library & Museum.

2023 Cultural Heritage Roundtable

2023 • “Celebrating the Real-World Impact of the Digitization Community”

Marking Digital Transitions’ 20th anniversary, the 2023 Roundtable spotlighted the human stories behind digitization work — from preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage under wartime threat to supporting major studio documentaries and managing multi-year NEH-funded conservation projects.

Featuring: Featured speaker Iryna Martyniuk (Ukraine’s National Reserve: Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra), Lauren Gaylord (Pixar Animation Studios Archives), Julie McVey & Sara Manco (National Geographic Society), Don Ross & Tenari Tuatagaloa (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art), Ben Heath (University of Western Australia), Christine Huhn (UC Berkeley), Astrid Smith (Stanford University), and Doug Peterson (Digital Transitions), who introduced DT Stellar, DT Gemini, DT Fusion, and DT FADGI Flow.

Fall 2022 • “A Global Gathering for Cultural Heritage Professionals”

The second 2022 Roundtable examined how institutions build equitable, sustainable digitization programs — from community engagement and archival education partnerships to funding strategies and the technical rigor behind Smithsonian-scale imaging standards.

Spring 2022 Roundtable

Spring 2022 • “A Global Gathering for Cultural Heritage Professionals”

Our first 2022 Roundtable opened with a powerful keynote on preserving 20th-century African American history, followed by sessions spanning fine art and auction-house photography, ancient gem imaging at the J. Paul Getty Trust, and practical applications of AI in heritage collections.
